Inter Milan cruise past Parma to extend unbeaten Serie A start

Inter Milan strengthened their position at the top of Serie A with a commanding 3-0 victory over Parma, scoring all three goals before half-time.

The result extended Inter’s unbeaten start to the league campaign and left Parma without a win in their past 11 meetings with the Nerazzurri. Cristian Chivu’s side have now won five of their six league matches, with one draw, while Parma have lost four of their six games, alongside one win and one draw.

Inter had been unbeaten in their opening five matches before the international break and quickly resumed their strong form at San Siro, taking the lead inside 10 minutes.

Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi played the ball towards Mandela Keita near the edge of his own penalty area, but Petar Sucic reacted first to take possession. The Croatia midfielder then drove a powerful shot against the post and into the net to put the home side ahead.

Inter doubled their advantage five minutes later after Diego Carlos was penalised for bringing down Pio Esposito inside the area. The referee reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor before awarding a penalty.

Hakan Calhanoglu took responsibility and sent Corvi the wrong way, placing his spot-kick into the bottom-left corner. It was the Turkey midfielder’s third Serie A goal of the season.

The hosts continued to press and added a third goal after 30 minutes with a quick transition from defence to attack. Henrikh Mkhitaryan released Marcus Thuram, who advanced into the box before calmly shooting across Corvi and into the far corner.

Inter maintained their control after the interval and almost produced a fourth goal in the opening minutes of the second half. Thuram found Federico Dimarco making a run on the overlap, and the defender’s low ball into the danger area was redirected towards goal by Esposito. Corvi, however, blocked the effort with his feet.

Parma created little in response. Their best opportunity came during a rare attack when Mariano Troilo headed over and wide, an effort that reflected a difficult night for the visitors.

Inter saw out the closing stages without significant difficulty, with Parma unable to disrupt their dominance. Chivu’s side completed a comfortable win and preserved their unbeaten league record.

Carlos Augusto was named Flashscore’s Man of the Match for Inter Milan.
