Marseille held goalless as PSG’s Matvey Safonov extends shutout streak

Matvey Safonov’s clean-sheet run reached 167 minutes after Marseille were unable to score against Paris Saint-Germain in the first half of their French Ligue 1 fifth-round match.

The sides went into the interval with the score 0-0, extending the Russian goalkeeper’s spell without conceding.

Safonov has recorded only one clean sheet in the 2026-27 season. That came in the fourth-round fixture away to Brest, when Paris Saint-Germain won 1-0.

Before that match, he had conceded in the 58th minute against Slovan in the Champions League.

The goalkeeper had previously let in at least one goal in every appearance across all competitions, including the UEFA Super Cup, French Super Cup and Champions League.

Paris Saint-Germain had collected results that left them 10th in the table after four rounds. Marseille’s position was even more difficult, with the club sitting 17th second from bottom and in the relegation zone.
