Relebohile Mofokeng is attracting growing interest from Lille and Bayer Leverkusen after making an impressive start to life at Union Saint-Gilloise.
The 22-year-old South African international forward is already being considered as a potential target for the next winter transfer window, with several European clubs monitoring his progress in Belgium.
According to Sky Sport, Lille are following Mofokeng closely and have placed him on their shortlist for upcoming transfer windows. However, the French club faces competition from Bayer Leverkusen, who have also made enquiries about the player’s situation.
Leverkusen’s recruitment staff have been particularly impressed by Mofokeng’s performances since his move to Belgium. The attacker joined Union Saint-Gilloise this summer from Orlando Pirates and has adapted quickly to his new surroundings.
He has been used in a second-striker role within Union Saint-Gilloise’s system, contributing five goals and four assists in 15 appearances in all competitions.
Mofokeng’s current market value is estimated at 6 million euros, although any potential deal would also have to take account of his long-term contract. He is tied to Union Saint-Gilloise until June 2030, with the agreement containing an additional one-year option.
His performances have now begun to attract attention beyond Belgium, and he could receive approaches from interested clubs in the coming months. It remains to be seen whether Lille or Bayer Leverkusen will move beyond monitoring the player and make a formal offer.
Union Saint-Gilloise will soon return to Europa League action when they face Celta Vigo in the fourth round of the league phase.
