Nigeria’s Falconets ready for Spain test at U-20 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria head coach Moses Aduku says the Falconets are prepared to give everything when they face Spain in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup on Monday.

The Group F fixture will be played at Stadion Sosnowiec, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 local time, which is 16:00 in Nigeria.

Aduku recognises the strength of Spain’s team but believes his players are ready to make a strong start to the tournament. He has told the Falconets to approach the contest with the intensity of a final as they seek three points from their first game.

“We are looking forward to the match against Spain with high expectations. We are ready and set to go,” Aduku told thenff.com.

“Spain is a good side, no doubt; let us not forget they are champions of the world at men’s senior level.

“However, we will approach the game like a Cup final because we want to win. The three points will put us in good stead in our group phase campaign.”

The result could prove important in shaping Nigeria’s hopes of progressing from Group F. A victory would give the Falconets an early advantage and provide a positive platform for the remaining group matches.

Aduku’s team will be aiming to begin their campaign with maximum points against a Spain side regarded as one of the leading opponents in the section. The Nigeria coach has stressed both the quality of the opposition and his players’ determination to compete for victory.

The other Group F match will see China PR take on tournament debutants New Caledonia. That result, together with the outcome of Nigeria’s meeting with Spain, will determine the early standings in the group.

The Falconets will therefore be looking to combine discipline with the attacking ambition required to secure a winning start. Aduku’s message is that respect for Spain must not weaken Nigeria’s belief that they can take all three points.

The 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup match is scheduled for Monday at Stadion Sosnowiec, beginning at 17:00 local time and 16:00 Nigeria time.
