PSI face Korhogo as CAF Confederation Cup preliminary ties begin

The CAF Confederation Cup begins its preliminary-round programme on Friday, with five fixtures scheduled across Africa as clubs start their journey towards the group stage.

The opening day includes a West African meeting between PSI and Korhogo, while Hilal Alsahil of Sudan face Welwalo Adigrat of Ethiopia in an East African contest. The other matches feature teams from Tunisia, Senegal, Cameroon, Rwanda, Mauritius and Botswana.

All of the clubs involved will be aiming to make progress in the competition by securing a place in the next stage of the qualifying process. Friday’s schedule offers a varied programme, with matches taking place from the afternoon into the early evening.

PSI (Chad) v Korhogo (Ivory Coast) 14:30

The day’s programme starts with a West African clash between PSI and Korhogo. The meeting is one of the headline fixtures of the opening round and will begin at 14:30.

ES Zarzis (Tunisia) v Diambars (Senegal) 14:30

At the same time, ES Zarzis host Diambars in another tie involving clubs from different footballing nations. The Tunisian side and their Senegalese opponents will also begin their campaigns at 14:30.

Panthere (Cameroon) v Rayon Sport (Rwanda) 15:00

Panthere meet Rayon Sport in a Central and East African contest scheduled for 15:00. Both clubs enter the preliminary round with the opportunity to move closer to the group stage.

Port Louis (Mauritius) v Jwaneng Galaxy (Botswana) 15:00

Port Louis face Jwaneng Galaxy in a fixture between teams from Mauritius and Botswana. The match is due to start at 15:00, alongside the meeting between Panthere and Rayon Sport.

Hilal Alsahil (Sudan) v Welwalo Adigrat (Ethiopia) 17:00

The final game on Friday sees Hilal Alsahil take on Welwalo Adigrat at 17:00. The fixture brings the day’s schedule to a close and represents the East African match highlighted in the opening programme.
