Real Madrid have started preparations for Sunday’s El Clasico against Barcelona, following their 4-1 Champions League victory over RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
The Madrid club’s website published a report on Thursday under the headline “Real Madrid begin preparations for El Clasico”, detailing the team’s first training session ahead of the meeting with their domestic rivals.
Players who started the Champions League match took part in a specialised recovery programme. The rest of Jose Mourinho’s squad began with a warm-up, using the ball and working without it.
The session then moved on to possession and pressing drills, which included finishing exercises. The players also completed running work before ending training with several small-sided games and further shooting practice.
Real Madrid said Raul Asensio and Rodrygo were continuing their recovery programmes.
Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet on Sunday, 25 October.
