USM Alger are hoping Mohamed-Amine Ramdaoui will recover in time to feature against The Panthers FC in their CAF Confederation Cup second qualifying round tie.
The Algerian forward is continuing his rehabilitation from a thigh injury and remains a doubt for the first leg, which is scheduled for Tuesday 20 October at the 5-Juillet Stadium.
Ramdaoui’s return would provide a boost for manager Lamine N’Diaye. The 2025-26 campaign has already seen the striker score two goals in the league, making him one of the important attacking options in the USM Alger squad.
His absence has been felt in the club’s most recent matches, according to the Algerian press. USM Alger will be keen to have him available as they begin their attempt to progress against The Panthers FC.
The postponement of the fixture has given Ramdaoui additional time to continue his recovery and could improve his chances of returning. However, he still has rehabilitation work to complete, and his involvement against the Equatorial Guinean side is not certain.
The technical staff will first have to establish that the forward has recovered sufficiently before deciding whether to include him in the squad.
As holders of the CAF Confederation Cup, USM Alger will play both legs of the tie in Algiers. The matches are scheduled for 20 and 25 October, with both kick-offs at 20:00.
That arrangement gives the Rouge et Noir the opportunity to take control of the contest on home territory. If his fitness allows him to return to competitive action, Ramdaoui would give N’Diaye an additional attacking option.
