Vinicius Junior could be dropped from the Real Madrid starting XI if he fails to improve his form in the coming matches, according to reports.

The Brazilian winger has made an underwhelming start to the current campaign and is considered to be some way short of his best. He has scored one goal and provided three assists in eight appearances for Real Madrid this season.

Madrid Universal reports that Jose Mourinho is expecting a significant improvement from the 26-year-old and is prepared to make a firm decision over his place in the team if that progress does not come.

Real Madrid host Villarreal on Saturday in their eighth La Liga match of the season. They are currently fourth in the table, six points behind leaders Barcelona.
